Postkoloniale Literatur einmal anders:
Zusammen mit Studierenden aus dem Bremer Masterprogramm English-Speaking Cultures: Language, Text, Media führte Prof. Dr. Kerstin Knopf im Sommersemester 2021 die Lehrveranstaltung „Producing a Critical Edition of a Postcolonial Novel“ durch. In Anlehnung an die Norton Critical Editions von literarischen Klassikern wurde eine kritische Edition des nigerianischen Romans Oil on Water (2010) von Helon Habila erstellt – eine Lehr-/Lernaktivität an der Schnittstelle von Forschung, Studium und Erlernen von Fähigkeiten für das spätere Berufsleben. Die Studierenden verfassten Artikel zum historischen Hintergrund des Romans sowie zum politischen, kulturellen, sozialen und umweltpolitischen Kontext. Weiterhin befassten sich literaturkritische Artikel mit dem sogenannte Zurückschreiben zum Klassiker Heart of Darkness (1899) von Joseph Conrad, zum Roman als petrofiction sowie zu weiteren relevanten Aspekten.

Following the Norton Critical Editions of literary classics, we produced a critical edition of the Nigerian novel Oil on Water (2010) by Helon Habila, a teaching/learning activity at the intersection of research, study, and learning skills for later professional careers. Students wrote articles on the historical background of the novel as well as the political, cultural, social, and environmental context. Furthermore, literary criticism articles addressed the so-called writing back to the classic Heart of Darkness (1899) by Joseph Conrad, the novel as petrofiction, and other relevant aspects.
